Pedro Acosta is third in BritishGP, with Albert Arenas fourteenth.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 riders completed a demanding race at Silverstone. Pedro Acosta achieved his fourth consecutive podium after finishing in third position, whilst Albert Arenas ascended positions to place fourteenth.

The Moto2 race began with the riders keeping an eye out for the threat of rain and with Acosta on pole. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider remained in the Top3 after a good start and rode second in the front group, looking to secure the position and maintain a comfortable pace. The Spanish rider attempted to close down his rivals to score important points in the championship, and finally crossed the finish line in third position, earning his fourth consecutive podium. Acosta regains the lead in the Moto2 standings and has 156 points to his name.

Arenas started from sixth row on the grid and remained the position during the opening laps of the race. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 rider felt comfortable with his bike in the first part of the race, and took advantage to climb positions and enter the points. Arenas tried to break into the Top 10 and rode as high as twelfth, but on the closing laps he lost ground and finished the BritishGP in fourteenth place. With 43 points, he is twelfth in the overall standings.

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 occupy second position in the team standings with 199 points. The Austrian Grand Prix will be the next event for the series, from August 18-20th.

Aki Ajo – Team Manager

Pedro had a really strong race and again gave an example of the smartness that he has shown during the season. Conditions were not easy during the weekend but Pedro handled the situation in a very smart way during the race. I would say he nearly pushed to the maximum, but in a clever way. That’s really good for us in the championship, but on the other hand we need to remember that the season is very long and we still have many races to go. We need to focus on things race-by-race. Albert started really well and was consistent from Friday, but unfortunately difficult wet conditions he had a crash and his starting position in the race wasn’t good. In the race we made some progress but we have to analyse why we dropped off at the end. In any case, we got points with Albert as well, so now we are looking forward to the next race.

#37 PEDRO ACOSTA

The last 4 laps were tough, but we’re happy with the result. The goal at the end of the year is going to be to get the most out of every situation. It’s our fourth consecutive podium; we haven’t had the pace to fight for victory but perhaps we could have challenged for second place. We have regained the series lead, it is another good result for us and now it is time to move on and think about the next race. We are going to be competitive in all situations, we have solved several aspects that we had pending, and I leave Silverstone satisfied.

#75 ALBERT ARENAS

We faced today’s race wanting to have a good fightback. We had a good first part of the race, although we lacked a little in the second part. After a difficult weekend due to the conditions, we were able to gather information and we are going to work to improve things for Austria. It’s an important Grand Prix for the team and we want to do our best there.

Jose Antonio Rueda finishes in eighth position and Deniz Öncü eleventh.

The Moto3 British GP saw an outstanding performance by the Red Bull KTM Ajo riders. Deniz Öncü fought for the podium before placing eleventh, and Jose Antonio Rueda climbed up the order to claim eighth. With these results, the Moto3 team leave Silverstone leading the team classification.

Öncü was ninth on the grid and made a great start to move up into second place, going on to remain in the front group. Despite dropping down the order later on, he managed to recover and was one of the candidates for victory at the British track. He reached the final stretch of the race in podium positions and, after a series of overtakes, moved into second before a last lap collision with another rider put him down to eleventh. Öncü remains fifth in the series with 99 points, and continues to show his solidity and consistency this season.

Rueda, who started from the sixth row on the grid, lost some positions on the opening laps and dropped down to 22nd. He looked for a good feeling and began to recover positions, and after five laps the rookie was already up into the points. Rueda felt more and more comfortable as the race went on and continued to mount his comeback, producing one of his best performances this season to date. On the last lap he gave everything to enter the Top 10 and finally crossed the finish line eighth. He is also eighth in the overall standings with 60 points.

The positive results for Öncü and Rueda allow the Moto3 outfit to lead the team classification with 159 points. The next round of the series is the Austrian Grand Prix, held from August 18-20th at the Red Bull Ring.

Aki Ajo – Team Manager

This weekend has not been the easiest because of the weather conditions. Fortunately we had a dry track on Friday so we had some pace already today. Both riders were happy with the setup of the bike. Unfortunately Jose Antonio’s starting position wasn’t so good, but we still need to be very positive that a rookie was having a really strong race and finished eight. We are happy with his progress. Deniz was so strong during the weekend in all the conditions and this is the sign of how he finds calm, focus and consistency during race weekends. Even in the race he showed that he was really strong in all areas. Unfortunately on the last lap he made a small mistake and we lost the fight for the podium. In any case we need to be really positive about the progress that we have made with Deniz -and of course with Jose Antonio- during the year.

#53 DENIZ ÖNCÜ

Today I felt really strong after five weeks without racing. It’s good to see that both the team and I are strong together. I was managing the race in the best possible way and I tried to understand what I could do on the last laps, waiting for a good moment to attack. On the last lap I made contact with another rider and this meant that I couldn’t fight for the victory, but I felt that I could win. I’m happy with how team are pushing each weekend and we will come back in Austria with a positive mindset.

#99 JOSE ANTONIO RUEDA

I felt quite comfortable with the bike and it was a good race. At the beginning it was a bit difficult for us because we had to fight with several riders, but in the end we finished eighth. I was missing something on the brakes, but we’ll improve that for the next race. I’m happy because in the end I had a good feeling, we’ve improved throughout the weekend and we’re closer to reaching the level we want. Now it’s time for Austria, a circuit that I know and where we will try to improve the results.
