STRONG SIXTH FOR ARBOLINO AT ASSEN

Tony Arbolino took his best result of the season to date after being involved in an exciting fight for 4th at the Dutch TT on Sunday.

After blazing conditions on Saturday, skies were overcast and temperatures slightly cooler on race day for the 8th round of the Moto2 World Championship. The 22-lap race took place in ambient temperatures of 22 degrees.

As is usually the case at the TT Circuit Assen, the fans packed through the turnstiles in their tens of thousands, with 108.770 in attendance on Sunday.

Tony Arbolino was the sole representative for the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team on Sunday after Filip Salac was ruled out of the Grand Prix due to a big crash on Friday.

Having qualified 7th, Tony enjoyed one of his best starts of the year to brilliantly climb 4 places on the 1st lap to sit 3rd. He then picked off another rider to sit 2nd on lap 2.

Once the race settled into a rhythm, Tony was involved in an all-action fight for 4th, along with Jake Dixon and Somkiat Chantra. The 23-year old lost 5th at end of lap 20, and came home in 6th.

Tony’s best result of the season sees him sit 13th in the World Championship with 43 points.

TONY ARBOLINO, 6th

“It was a nice weekend here in Assen. We were really consistent right the way through from Friday morning. It feels like we have seen the light this weekend! At one point I was in the podium places, and was fighting for the top three in the first laps. I really enjoyed this race a lot. When I can feel like this on the bike it’s just so much better for me. That’s the most important thing. We didn’t touch anything on the bike and tried to get the best result possible with what we have. That’s it. Now we’ll go home, have a few days of rest and make a small reset before going to the Sachsenring, where we’re aiming for an even better result!”
